Unsung Hero Wins Young Volunteer Award!
After taking part in a Prince’s Trust Team Programme in Hinckley, Lacey Holdsworth went on to volunteer with Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, to assist with the delivery of the Team programme in Hinckley.
Lacey has now volunteered with two teams, and has used her newly gained confidence, enthusiasm and supportive attitude to support and nurture nearly 30 young people.
Lacey’s commitment and enthusiasm was recognised at an early stage, which lead to her being put forward for Princes Trust Team Leader Training. Following this course, Lacey’s efforts continued to grow. It was for this reason that I nominated her for an award under the category of Best Young Volunteer, with the Voluntary Community Sector (VCS) East Midlands.
On the 8th December 2009, Lacey and I attended the award ceremony at Derby County Football Club, and I was delighted when Lacey was selected as the Best Young Volunteer in the East Midlands region.
We are very grateful to Lacey for all that she has done with us, and it was great to see her hard work recognised.
