Below are some testimonials by past team members of Leicestershire's Prince's Trust Team programme.

Name: William Watson

Team: Team 9 Coalville

Why did you join the Prince’s Trust Team programme?

I was unemployed and unsure of what I really wanted to do, so I decided to join the Prince’s Trust to give me a better view on possibilities that I didn’t think I could do.

What was your favourite part and why?

I worked away on a residential for my work placement with the Foundry, doing outdoor activities, a job I had not even considered but something that I really want to do in the future.

What do you feel you achieved whilst you were on the course?

The course has really opened my eyes to job possibilities that I hadn’t given a second thought to, and hopefully I will be able to follow my interest up over the next few weeks.

What are you doing now that the course has finished?

I have recently applied for a position with the Prince’s Trust which I have been successful in and taken up the role as a deputy team leader, working with the teams run in the county. I am also seeking training in outdoor pursuits to add to my sailing instructor’s qualification I already have.

Supporting statement:

I would like to thank the team and wish them all the best, and most importantly, thank the team leader Jenni and her able assistant Becky, as they have made the last 12 weeks unforgettable.

Why did you join the Prince’s Trust Team programme?

I joined the prince’s trust team programme as I felt lost and didn’t know what to make of my life, all I was doing week in and week out was just sitting around doing nothing

What was your favourite part and why?

My favourite part of my 12 weeks on the Prince’s Trust was the week 2 residential as it gave us all chance to get to know each other better which was also a challenge to us all as we had only known each another for one week.

What do you feel you achieved whilst you were on the course?

I feel that I achieved everything that I had set out to achieve whilst on the course such as gaining a clearer view on my career path. Also I feel that I have gained more confidence in myself when trying to pursue my goals.

What are you doing now that the course has finished?

Now that I have completed the Prince’s Trust course I have now applied to join a health and social care course level 3 in September. I then hope to go on to become a social worker.

Supporting statement:

I would like to say a big thank you to the whole of the Prince’s Trust team because with out them I would still be at home doing nothing with know idea of what to do with my life. Many thanks again xxx.

Before I joined the Prince’s Trust Team programme I wasn’t doing too much.  In fact all I was doing was getting into trouble, so I decided I wanted to change my life around.  My YOT worker told me about the course and I’m glad he did because it’s been really enjoyable.

I’ve really enjoyed meeting people of all ages and backgrounds with different stories and beliefs.  The programme has helped me to open my eyes and become open minded to people different from myself.

Now that the course is finishing, I feel I am a more confident individual than before and know myself a little better.  I now have a fantastic CV that employers will love.  I have a job interview tomorrow, thanks to my new qualifications.  I’m still not sure what is in store for me, career-wise but at least I can now go forward with a smile on my face.

I would say to anyone struggling to find a job or anyone who was finding it hard to be motivated or a young single mum like myself that you should definitely do the Prince’s Trust 12 Week team programme.
